Default Icy Dragon Sword Farming

hi,
i was wondering what spells are used to farm ids, so i looked at some builds and tutorials and even a video, but i still cant do it. Once i get in eye view of the imps i use the elemental resistance, i take about 1-4 damage every hit except spells, i take 20-40dmg.By the time i get to an ice imp from being slowed down and getting spelled, i have about 200 health out of 500. if i use healing signet i die really fast. if i dont use healing signet i cant heal myself... When i watched the guy on the video do it he walked into a group of like 10 or more imps with elemental resistance on and his health was at about 400 when he got to one and killed him and he killed everyone around him without using healing signet once.

What I use for farming IDS (and guy on video does also):

strength - 8 + 1 = 9
tactics - 12
Swordsmanship - 11 + 1 = 12
Inspiration - 5

Desperation Blow - Galrath Slash - Charge - Elemental Resistance - Watch Yourself - Dolyak Signet - Healing Signet - Endure Pain

All Sunspear armor From consulate docks except Denravi Helmet (reduced 20% hex and 2% damage)

Anyone got any thing i can change to make me survive better?

Much Appreciated

Use heal sig. period. Pop watch yourself and dolyak as soon as you get hexed. dolyak wont make u move slower when you're hexed. if u need to, endure pain. healing sig.

Bring [skill]Lion's Comfort[/skill] instead of [skill]Healing Signet[/skill]. It has a faster casting time, all you have to do is time it right with [skill]Dolyak Signet[/skill].

Default Ids

This is the best build in my opinion for this run, with it it's possible to solo avicara and farm the ice cave. Drop rate is about 1-2/3runs. If you farm the avicara you will find a lot of golds...and yes the odd sup vigor! Hope this works for you!
ICY DRAGON SWORD

SKILLS
sever artery
gash
dolyak signet
shielding hands
shield of regeneration(elite)
watchful spirit
balthazar's spirit
sprint / enraging charge (personal preference really)

attributes

13 strength
13 swordsmanship
8 protection prayers
5 smiting prayers

(3 points left over) full 200 attribute points required

ARMOUR

ANY SET OF MAX ARMOUR WILL DO

WEAPONRY

weapon set 1 :- used for running

EMBOLDENED CARAPACE SHIELD(16 armour ,Q9 STRENGTH,+60 HP WHEN HEXED ,-3 DAMAGE WHEN HEXED) (from collector outside camp rankor)
SSKAI'S SWORD / ICY DRAGON SWORD OF SHELTER(+7 armour vs physical damage)

weapon set 2 :- used for fight the ice imps at the cave

EMBOLDENED CARAPACE SHIELD(from collector outside camp rankor)
FIERY DRAGON SWORD OF WARDING(+7 armour vs elemental damage)

PLACE TO START RUN FROM

GRANITE CITADEL(north east from Deldrimor warcamp)
getting run from there shouldnt cost more than 1k-1.5k( or get a guildie to do it for free)

WHAT TO DO

exit granite citadel into TASCA'S DEMISE , equip weapon set 1 and using whichever running skill you brought, run to MINERAL SPRINGS , avoiding the stone summit , ice golems , summit giant herders , and stone summit heretics along the way.

Once in MINERAL SPRINGS, put on watchful spirit and balthazar's spirit

when enchantments are on, aggro the avicara fierce and braves (dont worry about dying too much as you will lose dp quickly if accidents happen)

and work your way along the south path passed more avicara fierces, a couple of groups with guiles in the (avoid at all costs) , a couple of groups of tundra giants(easy to kill to regain dp if needed)

passed another 2-3 groups of avicara(if you are lucky they wont be near the cave)

enter the cave and start killing ice imps.

dont worry about maelstrom too much as it will regen your energy fast

cast shielding hands ,shield of regeneration, dolyak signet as needed(constantly)

use the attack skills on the imps and hopefully you will get one of the

ICY DRAGON SWORDS

15-22 ,15^50 ,Q9 (blue) THIS IS THE ONLY WAY IT DROPS!! IF ANYONE TRYS TO SELL IT ANY OTHER WAY IT HAS BEEN MODDED.

good luck and happy farming..

If you want a tutorial session pm me!

You just need to spam the shield of regen. I find that you can take on about 10-15 imps at once with this build, jus make sure to keep a chain of doylak and shielding hands. You'll find you have more time to activate the SoR. Takes time to try and time it in between the interrupts of maelstrom. Works for me and all my friends who I've shared it with.

Yup sure does, I just get mad when I clean out all the Imps and don't get an IDS drop at all.

I Have to say this build is great. I used a few henchies and heroes to get to Mineral Springs, where they were quickly dispatched by the Avicara. I had no trouble fighting the Fierce/Brave packs by myself and sprinting past other mobs with Guiles or bosses.

I was however unlucky upon getting to the cave, there was a mob with Guiles at the enternace which at first I manged to sprint past but as I was regening and reapplying enchantments, they along with a few Ice Imps wandered into my agro and punished me severly.

I got my henchies back but couldn't get back to the caves with them as there were Guiles and Boss Mobs at every narrow pass. Perhaps by design or maybe I was just unlucky. Only my first attempt, so I guess I'll just keep trying

i thought that, because of loot scalling, and IDS's being blue, they have a very much reduced drop rate... please correct me if i am wrong.

I suspect you're right. I wish I'd held onto and IDS or two.

Icy Dragon Swords are unique in that they only drop as blue 15^50 items.

If I'm correct, your question was why you were dying faster than "the guy in the video". If it's the video I'm thinking of (with the female warrior with a guy talking at the beginning), it's because back when he did the run he had damage reduction from his Ascalon piece of armour(-3), Shield(-2) and Absorption rune(-3) (the damage reduction was global then, not just physical as it is now) So, you're taking 4 damage, while he would have taken -8. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the problem.

Try getting your hands on a +10 cold shield with a +7 warding weapon grip. That's about all you can do now, besides skill set up.

... So in other words... the loot-scaling will influence them and you have as much chance of getting them solo as you do with a party of 8?

I wonder how that will make a difference in Hard Mode?...
